Pazhayangadi: A protective fence is being installed to prevent waste dumping into the Ramapuram River from the Ramapuram Bridge on the Pilathara-Pazhayangadi State Highway.
The project was conceived as the dumping of waste, brought in vehicles and other means, was rampant in the area. The fence construction is taking place on both sides of the old Ramapuram Bridge and the new bridge.
Local residents use the water from this river for agriculture and other purposes and excessive dumping of waste makes the water polluted and unusable.
Residents in the area are hopeful that once the protective fence is completed, dumping waste from the bridge can be prevented.
