The dry Yamuna has failed to meet the water needs of Agra city. The city is now dependent on the 165 kilometres long Ganga Jal pipeline from Bulandshahr district.
At present, only a short ride of 30 minutes is allowed as the water level in the river is low. Visitors can hop on to the coracles, experience the thick forest as well as its sights from the river and return to the same spot.
The local body authorities have now decided to launch stringent measures to save the remaining water in the river and warned that cases would be registered under non-bailable sections of the IPC against people found polluting the river.
