Congress releases second-phase list for Kozhikode local polls, filmmaker V M Vinu among candidates

Kozhikode: The Congress has announced the second-phase list of 15 candidates for the upcoming local body elections in Kozhikode. Filmmaker V M Vinu is contesting from the Kallayi division.
The announcement was made by District Congress Committee (DCC) president K Praveen Kumar and Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan during a press conference at the DCC office on Thursday. KPCC general secretary P M Niyas will contest from the Paropadi division. Youth Congress state general secretary Vaisal Kallatt will represent Eranjikkal, while P M Jijabhai will contest from the Civil Station division.

With 22 names announced in the first phase, the Congress has so far declared 37 candidates. The UDF will contest all 76 wards in the corporation — 49 for the Congress, 25 for the Indian Union Muslim League, and 2 for the CMP. The Congress is expected to announce its remaining 12 candidates in the coming days.
