On January 7, the day scheduled for the election to standing committees, only three standing committees -- Welfare, Town Planning and Tax Appeal -- could be formed.
In the elections held on Tuesday, Congress members Selin Manuel and Geetha Kunjikrishnan were elected as standing committee chairpersons with BJP backing.
The UDF currently holds 47 seats, giving it a clear upper hand over the Left Democratic Front's (LDF) 22 members and the BJP's six.
In all, seven women have headed the panchayat during this period, largely shaped by alliance negotiations.
