Kerala’s Opposition Leader, Pinarayi Vijayan, stated that recent byelection results showed a decline in UDF support due to power cuts, health sector issues, suspended welfare, project delays, and alleged government corruption.
In Thrissur district byelections, the UDF won three seats, retaining two and wresting one. The LDF held onto the remaining two.
The CPM has acknowledged serious organisational weaknesses, including inactive cadres, flawed candidate selection and a growing disconnect with voters.
RJD's North and South Mandalam committees have communicated to the party's state leadership that they would not cooperate with the LDF in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Polling is underwayon Monday for special elections at three local self-government wards in Kerala following the deaths of the candidates. The elections are being held in the Vizhinjam ward of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, the Payimpadam ward of Moothedam grama panchayat in Malappuram district,
Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm.
On January 7, the day scheduled for the election to standing committees, only three standing committees -- Welfare, Town Planning and Tax Appeal -- could be formed.
