On a day when the Kerala High Court remarked that technicality or party politics shall not deny the right of a person to participate in elections, the Congress candidate in Kozhikode corporation and its Mayoral candidate VM Vinu found his name removed from the supplementary list of local body polls. The HC, made the observation, while considering a petition by Thiruvananthapuram corporation UDF candidate Vyshna SL following deletion of her name from the list.

Speaking to the media, Kozhikode DCC President K Praveenkumar said, "VM Vinu was born in Kozhikode and has lived here all his life. He is well known and a celebrity here. How can his name be missing from the voters’ list? Neither he nor anyone else could have imagined this. From the BLOs to the State Election Commissioner, all should be held responsible.”

"His wife also does not have a vote now. This is not just unexpected but part of a larger conspiracy. Now we are worried about who else may be excluded. This is a clear example of ‘vote chori’, and what is happening in Kerala is far worse than what we see in Bihar or Haryana. We are set to move legally. At 8.15 pm, we will meet the district collector, and tomorrow we will approach the High Court. We trust the law and believe he will be able to contest from the Kallayi division," he added.
