Thrissur: Former Wadakkanchery MLA and KPCC general secretary Anil Akkara is set to return to local body politics, contesting this time from the Adat grama panchayat. He will seek voters’ mandate from Ward 15 of the panchayat.

Akkara is no stranger to the region. Between 2003 and 2010, he served as the president of the Adat panchayat. He made his entry into the Kerala Assembly in 2016 after defeating the CPM in Wadakkanchery. However, in the 2021 elections, the constituency swung back to the Left, with CPM candidate Xavier Chittilappilly defeating him.
