Payyannur: When their uncle, a Kerala Karshaka Sangham leader, returned home after filing his nomination for the local body elections, his nieces and nephews welcomed him with a stunning portrait crafted entirely from grains.

The portrait of P Suresh, the Kerala Karshaka Sangham leader contesting in Ward 11 of the Payyannur municipality, measures four feet in width and six feet in height. Instead of using any artificial colours, the young artists worked with natural grains such as paddy, green gram, rice, legumes, sesame, and red cowpeas to bring their image to life.

The artwork was crafted by a group of young talents, TK Abhijith, Arjun Kanayi, TV Akhil, TV Nikhil, K Abhinanda, TK Uthara, TK Sanviya, TK Mithramol and Evangelin Devashree. Remarkably, they completed the entire portrait in just four hours.
