Travelling along the Anjukuzhi–Naranam Moozhy road has become a gruelling task, with motorists taking nearly an hour to cover a one-kilometre stretch where the tar has completely worn off. The damaged portion lies just beyond the Moongapara forest section under the Karikulam forest station, where sharp mettles and gravel have been exposed.
Although the road was previously levelled with metal and tarred, the surface has since deteriorated to the point where the tarring mixture has fully disintegrated. With the stretch now in a perilous state, most commuters avoid the route altogether.
A sum of ₹20 lakh had been sanctioned from the MLA fund for repairs, but local residents say the renovation has been indefinitely delayed due to the inaction of the authorities. They are now demanding urgent intervention to restore the road before conditions worsen further.
