Idukki: Thodupuzha police on Thursday arrested an 18-year-old youth for possessing medicines worth ₹50,850 illegally. The medicines were recovered from Adithyan Baiju during an inspection in the town area.
According to police, a total of 150 vials of injectable medicines prescribed for patients with low blood pressure were seized from him. The youth had allegedly purchased the medicines online without a valid prescription. This is the fifth case registered by the Drugs Control Department in Idukki involving the online purchase of drugs.

Acting on the directions of Ernakulam Assistant Drugs Controller K Santosh Mathew, Drugs Inspector Martin Joseph initiated legal proceedings. KR Naveen, Drugs Inspector (Intelligence), also took part in the inspection. The seized medicines were produced before the Thodupuzha Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.
