Earlier, the government had approved the release of ₹190.22 crore towards the state’s equity contribution and transferred the amount to the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) account at the Sub Treasury, Ernakulam. Following this, the KMRL Managing Director requested the release of the remaining equity contribution to meet ongoing financial commitments and avoid delays in the project.

Considering the request, the government has now authorised the additional ₹50 crore. KMRL has been directed to regularise the expenditure through reappropriation of savings or supplementary demand for grants before the close of the current financial year.
