KSRTC bus crushes youth to death in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: A speeding KSRTC bus ran over a 23-year-old man at Kattakada here on Wednesday, killing him instantly. The deceased is Abhijith, a native of Ottasekharamangalam, police said.

The accident reportedly occurred around 5.45 am near the Amachal mosque. According to police, Abhijith lost control of his bike after its handlebar hit a pedestrian’s hand, causing him to fall onto the road and get trapped under the bus. The rear wheel of the bus is said to have crushed him to death.

Police have retrieved CCTV footage of the incident, which shows that the body remained on the road for nearly an hour. It is learnt that the bus driver did not realise that the youth had fallen under the vehicle.

The deceased is the son of a candidate contesting in the local body elections.
