Kochi: Actor Dileep, who has been acquitted in the actress assault case, will soon have his passport returned. The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court, which acquitted Dileep, has ordered that his passport be returned.
Following his aquittal, Dileep approached the court seeking the return of his passport so that he could travel abroad for the release of his new film and its promotional activities. Earlier, the court had ordered him to surrender his passport while granting him bail after being arraigned and arrested in connection with the case.
With Dileep now acquitted, his lawyers argued before the court that the bail conditions no longer apply. Although the prosecution contended that the passport should not be returned as an appeal may be filed, the court accepted the defense counsel's argument.
Earlier, with his passport in court custody, Dileep was allowed to travel abroad with special permission from the court.
