Thaliparamba: The valedictory function of the Anthur municipality council became a delightful musical event when the chairman took up the mic and sang. The councillors too joined him, making it an unforgettable event that marked the end of a remarkable term. The elected representatives of the Anthur municipality that had made headlines for the absence of an opposition, happily sang songs to share their joy.
Although a few councillors, including the deputy chairperson, have been re elected, the event was the perfect farewell to a lot of councillors who won’t be part of the next council. Chairman P Mukundan whose tenure has ended sang ‘Oruvattam Koodiyen Ormakal Meyunna Thirumuttathethuvan Moham’, a song that never fails to ignite nostalgia among Malayalis after the official meeting of the council in the morning. He then passed the mic to the council’s parliamentary party leader V Narayanan who sang Manushyan Mathangale Srishtichu. Meanwhile, chairperson elect and current deputy chairperson P Sathi Devi rendered Aroralente Kuthiraye Kettuvan, a beautiful poem written by the legendary poet Vayalar Rama Varma.
When one of the officials sang a sad song, the chairman intervened to say that the members preferred happy songs. The official then sang a happy song that lifted everyone’s mood.
Permanent samiti chairman KP Unnikrishnan, councillors MP Nalini, Prakashan, KV Jayasree, engineer Muhammad Swalih, health supervisor Ajith and former superintendant Madhusoodanan sang songs at the farewell meeting. Meanwhile, P Mukundan and councillor PK Mujeeb Rahman addressed the gathering.
