Malappuram: Sheza Ajmal, a class five student was asked by her class teacher whether she could write a short story, not more than 200 words for the school magazine. Sheza, who is a voracious reader, didn’t think twice before saying ‘yes’.

But, her story didn’t stop at just 200 words as she began unleashing her imagination. The story soon turned into a grand novel of over 11,000 words and 20 chapters.

Sheza Ajmal who hails from Pulamanthol in Kerala studies at the Delhi Public School in Bengaluru. The short novel titled ‘The Legacy of the Magical Chest’ has been released as a book with 98 pages.

Meanwhile, the book was published by a Chennai based publisher. A 12-year-old girl named Alicia Worth is the protagonist of Sheza’s novel. Sheza, a talented artist who has a keen interest in sketching and crafts made sure to draw the illustrations in her own book to capture the real essence of it.

She is the elder daughter of Pulamanthol Paloor native Ajmal Shahdas who works as a software engineer in Bengaluru and Anakayam native Dr. Rejeesha. Aira Ajmal is her sister.
