Thrissur: A first-year MBBS student died, allegedly after jumping off the fourth floor of the hostel, at the Jubilee Mission Medical College in Thrissur on Monday.

Sneha Paulose (20), a native of Kottayam, is suspected to have attempted to kill herself around 10 am. Hostel staff noticed the student lying unconscious on the ground and rushed her to the emergency department with critical injuries. Efforts to save her were in vain and she was declared dead around 11 am.

The Thrissur East Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

According to authorities at the Jubilee Mission Medical College, the student had been undergoing treatment for depression and was on medication. She had previously sought treatment after an alleged medication overdose, they said.
