According to local residents, the driver suddenly applied the brakes after a person attempted to cross the road in front of the approaching bus. "The vehicle skidded, spun around and overturned," natives told the media.

Two Fire and Rescue Services units from Kannur and Thaliparamba, along with police and local residents, took part in the rescue operation. The injured were shifted to hospitals in Kannur and Thaliparamba for treatment.

“It is understood that none of the passengers sustained serious injuries. However, the exact number of passengers on board is yet to be ascertained,” a fire officer said.

Oil from the bus spilled across the road following the accident, and efforts are underway to clear the stretch. The incident caused traffic congestion, which officials said is expected to ease once the road is cleared.
