Malappuram: Police arrested a migrant labourer for murdering his friend at Edasserykkadavu near Edavannapara, allegedly in retaliation for revealing his extramarital affair to his wife.
The victim, Prakash, 47, a native of Jharkhand, was found dead by local residents on Sunday near the four-storey building where he was staying.
A police team led by Vazhakkad Circle Inspector Haridas, found that Prakash was murdered and soon arrested his friend, Sunil Kiro, 38, also from Jharkhand, on Monday.
According to Vazhakkad Sub-Inspector Suresh Kumar, the murder was committed as an act of revenge after Prakash told Sunil’s wife that the latter had an extramarital affair.
“Both Prakash and Sunil were working as daily-wage labourers and were staying in the same building. Around midnight on Saturday, the two got into an argument. During the quarrel, Sunil allegedly assaulted Prakash and repeatedly banged his head against a wall,” the SI said.
Prakash lost consciousness following the assault, after which Sunil allegedly pushed him through a window on the top floor of the building. The window had no grills, and Prakash fell to the ground and died, police said.
