Kottayam: Never say never again! No Bond story this; but full of challenges, nonetheless. If steely determination can win, we have a sure winner in 52-year-old K.D. Prasantha who won her driving license after a solid 12-time try!
It all began eight years ago, when Prasantha’s husband Sivadas, brought home their first car. Sitting beside her husband as he drove along, and her children as they zipped around, Prasantha had only one image before her…that of her wielding the steering wheel. The dream refused to die down. So off she went for her learner’s license test, which she passed in one shot. Then came the ordeal. The real test for a driving license seemed unattainable. She counted the number of times she failed….one, two , three, four…till it touched eleven!
Nothing seemed to go right for her. Either the “H” went for a toss, the brakes were on too suddenly, or the clutch and gear never synchronized. Neither the test vehicles nor the vehicle inspectors were impressed. When most folks would give up with a “never again” after a couple of failed tries, Prasantha persevered. She sweated it out, continued her training and voila, attempt No 12 on Tuesday saw her waving V for victory.
It was an extremely happy Prasantha of Prasi Nivas in Vaduthala who went to the RTO office to collect her driving license. She had of course a sweet something for all the vehicle inspectors. A box of laddoos!
Prasantha had conquered her world.
