Mumbai: A police dog, regarded as a hero for his valiant efforts during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, died here Saturday.
Tiger, a black Labrador, played a crucial role in detecting bombs during the 2008 Mumbai attacks, in which 168 people were killed.
The dog, aged 12, was suffering from lung infection. It was with the Goregaon unit of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad.
After retiring from police service in 2015, the dog was put up at Fizzah Farms in Virar, here. Animal activist Fizzah Shah took care of former police dogs at her farm.
Tiger's funeral was held with full state honors in Mumbai on Sunday.
Another police dog from the Goregaon unit, named Sultan, had died last week.
