1. A 12-year-old girl, who was undergoing treatment for rabies infection at the Kottayam Medical College, died on Monday despite taking three doses of vaccine.
Abhirami, daughter of Harish from Sheena Bhavan in Perunad, was admitted to Kottayam MCH on Friday night in critical condition.
She was attacked and bitten by a stray dog when she went out to buy milk on Perunad Carmel Engineering College Road on August 14. There were six bite wounds on her legs and another one on her face near the eye.
With anxiety mounting in the state over the recent deaths of some people due to rabies infection despite vaccination, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had recently assured that the government would set up an expert panel to examine the quality of the anti-rabies vaccine being given in hospitals in the state.
He also said that a panel could be deployed to study the vaccines.
A total of 20 people have died due to rabies infection in Kerala so far this year. Of them, 15 persons had not taken the prescribed anti-rabies vaccine and one had accepted the jab only partially.
However, four of the deceased had taken the vaccine as prescribed by the health experts.

2. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday assured that the KSRTC employees would be paid their full dues by Tuesday.
The government also informed that arrangements will be made to distribute the salary before the 5th of every month. The KSRTC had on Monday distributed 75 per cent of pending salary for July to its employees ahead of the meeting.
The salary was distributed to 24,477 permanent employees.
The outstanding dues were distributed to conductors, drivers, mechanics and ministerial workers. ATO, DTO and station masters are yet to receive their salaries. The KSRTC requires Rs 82 crore for salaries alone, a month.

3. The Supreme Court on Monday granted more time to complete the trial in the actress assault case.
The apex court directed that the trial should be completed before January 31, 2023. It also urged all parties to cooperate. A progress report is to be submitted within four weeks.
