IPL sensation Vignesh Puthur was effective as an 'impact sub' in his first match of Kerala Cricket League (KCL) season 2.

But just like in his debut for the Mumbai Indians, the left-arm spinner ended up on the losing side as his Alleppey Ripples lost by seven wickets to Thrissur Titans at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

Puthur, who came on as an impact sub for M Sreeroop, bagged 2/25 from 3.3 overs, but the Titans' opening stand of 121 runs held by Anand Krishnan (63) and Ahammed Imran (61) proved too good in a 152-run chase.

Puthur dismissed Imran and Shoun Roger (7), but the Titans sealed an easy win with 21 balls to spare. Puthur famously claimed 3/32 on his IPL debut for MI in the third match of IPL 2025, but CSK won the match by 4 wickets.

Brief scores: Alleppey Ripples 151/7 in 20 overs (Azharuddeen 56, Sreeroop 30, Gireesh 4/23, Anand 2/21) lost to Thrissur Titans 152/3 in 16.3 overs (Anand Krishnan 63, Ahammed Imran 61, Vignesh Puthur 2/25)
