Vishnu Vinod's explosive batting powered Kollam Sailors to an 8-wicket win over Thrissur Titans in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL-2) at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.
The opener smashed a 38-ball 86 as the defending champions chased down a target of 141 in just 13.5 overs. Captain Sachin Baby remained unbeaten on 26.
Vishnu and Sachin had scored 94 and 91 respectively on Sunday evening as the Sailors posted a record total of 236/5. But it wasn't enough as Sanju Samson hit 121, his maiden KCL ton, to power Kochi Blue Tigers to victory.
Earlier, Ajayaghosh N S and Amal A G bagged seven wickets between them as the Sailors restricted the Titans to 144. Ajayaghosh finished with 4/27, while Amal A G bagged 3/19 and Sharafuddeen N M claimed 2/29.
Opener Anand Krishnan scored 41, while Akshay Manohar made 24 for the Titans. But no other batter managed to score in excess of 16 runs. With the win, the Sailors have climbed to the second position in the points table, behind the Blue Tigers.
