Defending champions Kollam Sailors climbed to the second spot in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL-2) with a 7-wicket win over Trivandrum Royals at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.

Abhishek Nair scored an unbeaten 59 and captain Sachin Baby made 46 as the Sailors chased down a target of 179 runs with 16 balls to spare. Opener Vishnu Vinod made 33 runs.

The Royals posted 178/6 in 20 overs with Krishna Prasad top-scoring 35 runs. Sanjeev Satheesan (34) and Vishnu Raj (33) made valuable contributions, while Vijay Vishwanath claimed three wickets for the Sailors.

The Sailors next play the Calicut Globstars on Monday. They will wrap up the group matches with games against Kochi Blue Tigers (Sept 3) and Alleppey Ripples (Sept 4).
