Shubman Gill, who was not picked in India's T20 World Cup squad, has been included in the Punjab team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting December 24.
India opener Abhishek Sharma and pacer Arshdeep Singh are also part of the Punjab squad. The trio is likely to be available for Team India's home series against New Zealand in January.
The inclusion of Gill, Sharma and Singh in the state squad is in line with the BCCI's diktat that requires national team players to compete in the domestic one-day tournament.
Abhishek Sharma captained Punjab in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy domestic T20 tournament. The left-hander scored a powerful 52-ball 148 against Bengal. Gill and Singh were not part of the state's T20 campaign.
Punjab are in Group C along with Mumbai, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Goa. They will open against Maharashtra (December 24).
