Former Pakistan Test coach Jason Gillespie called his successor Aaqib Javed a 'clown' and accused him of undermining him and Gary Kirsten.
The Australian's comment was in response to a post that contained a quote from Javed after a winless Pakistan crashed out of the ICC Champions Trophy.
Former fast bowler Javed claimed that Pakistan's struggles were due to the frequent changes in the coaching department. He said Pakistan had changed 16 coaches and 26 selectors in around two years.
Gillespie found it "hilarious". "Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes campaigning to be the coach in all formats. He is a clown," Gillespie posted.
South African Kirsten's term as Pakistan's white-ball coach lasted just six months. Gillespie filled in for a tour of Australia before he, too, resigned last December.
Javed was elevated to the vacant position for the Champions Trophy, and his term has been extended. Pakistan will tour New Zealand for five T20s and three ODIs starting March 16.
Pakistan had a disastrous campaign in the Champions Trophy, losing to New Zealand and India. Pakistan were hosting an ICC event after 26 years but following India's progress to the final, they also missed out on the opportunity to host the title match on home soil. The final will take place in Dubai on March 9 with India playing New Zealand.
