Kerala Blasters have launched a ‘Theyyam-inspired’ home kit.
While the Indian Super League season remains suspended, Kerala Blasters launched a new home kit, and have asked 'when do we wear this?' The club said their new kit drew inspiration from the traditional art form of Theyyam.
In a statement, the club said the design of the kit was a 'statement of resistance and belief' at a time of uncertainty "due to prolonged inaction and a clear lack of direction".
"The jersey became a symbol of accountability, resilience, and the club’s refusal to let indecision dilute the passion of Indian football," the Blasters said in the statement.
The Blasters are among the many clubs that have suspended first-team operations due to the non-start of ISL.
The ISL remains in limbo as the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has yet to finalise a commercial partner to kick off the premier men's league in the country. The ISL was scheduled to begin in September, but the matter remains in the Supreme Court.
In the context, the Blasters kit launch video could not be clearer. ".. we have been waiting to return to the pitch... and we hope the game returns to us soon," the Blasters said.
