Sindhu, Srikanth carry Indian hopes at Denmark Open

Odense: Title-contenders P.V. Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth will begin their campaign at the $750,000 Denmark Open Super Series Premier, here on Wednesday.

Rio Olympics and World Championship silver medalist Sindhu will meet China's world No. 10 Chen Yufie in the opening round. The match is likely to begin at 12.30 am IST (Thursday).

The second-seeded Indian will be fresh after a three-week training.

She had beaten Chen Yufei in the Glasgow World Championships.

Another Indian Saina Nehwal will be up against fifth-seeded Carolina Marin of Spain in the opening round. The two are locked 4-4 in head-to-head count, but the last time Saina had beaten Marin was at the 2015 Dubai World Superseries Finals. The match is scheduled to begin at 8.45 pm IST on Wednesday.

In men's singles, K. Srikanth starts as hot favorite. He is scheduled to meet a qualifier in his opener and the match is likely to start at 7. 15 pm IST on Wednesday.
