Chennai: Punjab defeated Uttarakhand 3-1 in a men's quarterfinal play-off match of the 67th Senior National Volleyball Championship at the Nehru indoor stadium here Sunday.
In a women's quarterfinal play-off fixture, Haryana blanked Uttar Pradesh 3-0.
In the Punjab-Uttarkhand match, the former lost the opening set 25-20 before bouncing back to take the next three. The fourth game was a close one before Punjab pulled away to take the last four points and secure a victory.
Punjab had finished last in Group 'B' in the preliminary stage and took on Uttarakhand for a spot in the quarterfinals through the play-offs.
