Kasaragod throwers flex their muscles at state schools athletics, break another meet record

Thrissur: For the second day in a row, a Kasaragod athlete was the star performer at the State Schools Athletics Championship at Kunnamkulam.
Shot putter Anupriya VS of GHSS Udinoor was the sole meet record breaker on the day.

With a massive throw of 16.15 metre she eclipsed a five-year-old record of 14.91 metre in the name of Megha Mariyam Mathew in the senior girls category.

Incidentally, it was Servan KC, her fellow trainee at the KC Throws academy in Kasaragod, who set a meet record on the inaugural day. He had set a fresh mark in senior boys' discus throw.
Meanwhile, Palakkad's Thara G and Abiram P emerged the fastest athletes of the meet by winning the 100m races in senior girls and senior boys categories respectively.

For Abiram, who bagged a record gold in 400m on Tuesday, the 100 m dash delivered the double. He clocked 11.10 seconds for gold while another Palakkad sprinter, Adin PM finished second on 11.13 seconds and Alan Mathew of Malappuram (11.23) was placed t hird.

Thara claimed her first place with a time of 12.35 seconds and was followed by Pathanamthitta's Anamika H (12.74) and Sneha Jacob of Thiruvananthapuram (12.77).
