There is a reason Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a three-time Olympic gold medallist — she is fiercely competitive, regardless of the level. Any doubts were blown away during a sports meet at a Jamaican school the other day.

Not only did Fraser-Pryce show up at her son Zyon's sports day and participate in the mum's race, but the superstar athlete quite literally obliterated the field with a display of her lightning pace. She breezed past the competitors with such ease that the next best 'mum' was arguably only halfway through when Fraser-Pryce finished.

The 38-year-old shared a couple of videos of her race on Instagram. "They haven’t banned me yet, so I’m at the line," she captioned her posts that also comprised her son's performances. Zyon made his mum proud by taking gold in his race.

But did the Olympic star really need to go all guns blazing at a school event? "It said parent race, so I showed up for the parent race," Fraser-Pryce said with a hearty laugh when a journalist later quizzed her about her competitive spirit.

Fraser-Pryce did something similar at the school event two years ago. She won 100 metre gold medals in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. She added a third gold to her kitty by winning the 4X100 m relay in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 38-year-old is expected to return to the track for competitive running later this year.
