Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman said the state government's goal to build a playground in every panchayat will soon be realised. Projects worth ₹1,200 crore are being implemented with the support of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), he said.

Of the ₹1,200 crore worth of projects, work amounting to ₹220 crore—covering 20 projects—has already been completed. This includes 14 football stadiums, synthetic tracks in eight stadiums, and five indoor stadiums.
The infrastructure at GV Raja Sports School in Thiruvananthapuram has been upgraded to international standards, and the benefits are already visible. The government’s broader policy is to promote participation in sports not only for competition but also to improve public health.
“Adults, too, are making use of the completed facilities in large numbers for physical exercise,” the minister noted.
Meanwhile, the construction of the multi-sport circuit in Menamkulam, Thiruvananthapuram, is in its final stages, along with stadiums in Pathanamthitta, Muvattupuzha, Kollam, and Thrissur.
