Kidambi Srikanth remains India's lone survivor in the Malaysia Masters badminton tournament after he advanced to the men's singles semifinals in Kuala Lumpur on Friday.
Srikanth and the mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto were the Indian participants in the quarterfinals.
The duo of Kapila and Crasto crashed out in a 35-minute battle with the top seed of Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin of China (22-24, 13-21).
Srikanth, meanwhile, clinched a hard-fought victory over Frenchman Toma Junior Popov (24-22, 17-21, 22-20).
Former World No. 1 Srikanth will take on Yushi Tanaka of Japan in the semifinals. Tanaka knocked out the other Popov, Christo, 21-18, 16-21, 21-6. Srikanth has not played in the semifinal stage of a BWF event in over a year.
