Lakshya Sen clinched his first title of the season by lifting the Australian Open Super 500 event in Sydney on Sunday.
The Indian star defeated Japan's Yushi Tanaka, 21-15, 21-11 in 38 minutes to secure the men's singles title.
Sen, 24, had not been in the best of form since finishing fourth in the Paris Olympics, but he proved the doubters wrong with a powerful performance.
Sen is a bronze medallist from the 2021 World Championship and won a Super 300 title in Lucknow last year.
He almost ended his title drought at the Hong Kong Super 500 in September, but finished second. Before Sen, only Ayush Shetty had won a BWF World Tour title this season. Shetty lifted the US Open Super 300 event.
