The girl who wants to travel the world

Krishnapriya is like a girl next door for Malayalis. We know her as an actor and a dancer but not everyone is aware of her avid travel thirst. It is as dear to her as dancing and acting. Travel for her is all about being with nature. When talking about the places she visited and the beauty she saw, she finds it hard not to be talkative. Here is an account of her favourite trips she shared with Onmanorama.

"Travels thrilled me right from childhood. To go for short trips with my family was something usual. And because of the same I have visited quite a lot of places by now. While visiting different countries for programs and shooting, I got the opportunity to see the landmarks of those places," the actress says.

'I want to explore the world'

"The zest imparted by travel can never be drawn from anything else. The world is an open book inviting you to learn from it. From reason to purpose, travel is different for different people. For some people it is a chance to see the unseen and know the unknown. I make sure to learn about it and its specialities while exploring any land. The culture and history interest me mostly and to strike similarities between different cultures is even more interesting.

"Dance is my life and it has given me the most cherished gifts ever, among which the opportunity to travel is my favourite. I have been to many countries for work, including London, America, Australia, UK etc. Kangaroo Island was my favourite destination on my Australian expeditions. The island is located in the Tasmanian sea, 112km away from the Australian city, Adelaide. As its name indicate, the island is home to a large number of Kangaroos and other animals. The weather is extreme in this place; freezing cold during winter and steaming hot during the summer. Kangaroos walk around in troops and escape within few seconds from the sight of people. Australia gave me unforgettable memories," exclaims Krishnapriya.

London, the enchanter

Trip to London was full of fun. The beauty of this big city is captivating. The view of the city itself is mind boggling. Clean streets, green pastures, cool climate, buildings lined in the same shade, Wimbledon Tennis museum, Tower Bridge, London Eye, Big Ben, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and what not to overwhelm her guests. London, with its castles and Gothic Victorian mansions, is an exchequer for any travel enthusiast. To get an opportunity to perform in this dream land itself is a luck for me. The main things of attraction in London is the river Thames and the Giant Ferris Wheel and the London Tower on its bank. London Tower bridge that stands proud across the Thames river and the London Eye that watches you from above are mesmerising indeed. Somewhere within, the intimacy towards the city of London still remains," she explains.

The Munnar of the west

"I visited Ireland recently in connection with a programme. And I find it to be different from the all the countries I visited before.

I felt that the place was very similar to Munnar in Kerala. The high ranges here is throbbing with green, and that is probably the reason behind the comparison. Agriculture is the main activity of this place and hence there are a many farms here. Out of the various farms I visited, strawberry farm was truly amusing as we could enjoy the juicy fruit straight from the plant."

Love for the wilderness

"Voyaging through the forest, enjoying the wild beauty is something that I enjoy the most. Though I do not plan my trips in advance, I make sure to travel as and when a chance comes. I love trekking and if it is in a forest, I don't think twice.

Bandipur trip is definitely my favourite. To trek through the habitat of the wild animals who are privileged to enjoy freedom is an experience for life. Though I was full of excitement to see the wildlife near me, fear took over at the very sight of it. Elephants, tigers, and wild bisons paid their visit on the the way. This forest gave me an amazing experience altogether."

Essence of heritage

"Visit to the temples are also a part of my travel endeavours. To take a break from the busy life a then to choose a temple to visit can give a fresh start. I often visit temples like Thirupathi, Mookambika, and Thanjavur. The land of rhythm and melody, Thanjavur is very close to my heart. Music to dessert, everything has an extra sweetness here." Krishnapriya concluded with an immense zeal to explore the world to its fullest.
