The Jumeirah Mosque in Dubai allows entry to anyone of any religion from anywhere in the world and offers a guided tour of the place for AED 25. The tour, which is of about 75 minute duration, includes a description of the Arabic traditions, cultures and lifestyles and also showcases traditional arts and handicrafts. Traditional Arabic light refreshments are also included in the tour. Another speciality is that the women are not required to wear Abaya or veil inside the mosque. But they need to be modestly dressed.
Renowned TV actress Reshmi Soman, presently based in Dubai, visited the Jumeirah Mosque as part of an open tour and she has shared her thoughts and experiences of entering a mosque for the first time through a YouTube video.
Though she has visited many temples and churches, it was her first visit of a mosque and her excitement is quite palpable in her words. She presents her travel videos for her fans from time to time.
Reshmi Soman says that many living in Dubai are unaware of the guided tour of Jumeirah Mosque. She is of the view that anyone living in Dubai or touring Dubai should try to visit the mosque at least once.
