The temperature in the valley has dropped significantly this week. The lowest temperature in Srinagar was 4.2 degrees while it was 4.5 degrees in Gulmarg. The Jammu Kashmir tourism department is all set to welcome the iconic winter tourist season. The government hopes that more tourists would reach the valley this winter season. The authorities plan to announce interesting discounts and offers to the tourists who reach Kashmir to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

The winter festivals in the hill stations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg are quite famous. Besides, the government plans to organise skiing competitions at Pahalgam and Sonmarg this year. Earlier, skiing tournaments were held only in Gulmarg.
