We were looking for a place to park our car at the Shankumugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram when we chanced upon a truck with a board that read 'Burger Band'. There was a small crowd gathered around the truck, and we could see that they were doing brisk business. We got in the line.

The menu is very basic and written neatly on a board placed on the truck. You get momos – both steamed and fried, chowmien and momo burgers. And they offer fresh lime juice and icy mint coolers. There are momo-chowmein-drinks combos too.

It is economically priced. You have to shell out Rs 50 for five pieces of chicken momos and Rs 80 for ten. Chicken chowmein comes for Rs 100 and veg is priced at Rs 80.  We would suggest you to stick to momos, which are very yummy and skip the chowmien, which is pretty bland. Chicken momos and vegetarian momos come in both steamed and fried avatars. If you are health conscious, we would suggest you order the steamed momos rather than the fried ones.

“This is a trial run”, says Mahesh, the manager, “we are looking for a place in the city to open up a proper full-fledged restaurant soon”.

They give parcels too, at an extra charge of Rs 5. Pick up a parcel, find yourself a nice place near beach to enjoy the momos and a beautiful sunset.
