Bangladesh in Idukki is a small village with very less population. However, the residents of this village have no idea how their village got an interesting name.

Ramakkalmedu

Ramakkalmedu never disappoints the visitor who seeks the incredible beauty of nature. The huge ‘Kuravan Kurathi’ statue located on top of the Ramakkalmedu hills is one of the most prominent features of this beautiful hill station. From the stone monument, one can enjoy the mesmerising beauty of the surrounding place and can even spot Tamil Nadu far away.

Ramakkalmedu is situated almost 3,500 feet above the sea level. The sight of Tamil Nadu from the top of the hill is as surreal as an incredible painting. The pleasant climate, beautiful nature, misty hills and the magnificent statue make Ramakkalmedu one of the major tourist destinations in the district.

The legend says that Lord Rama had stepped one of his legs in Ramakkalmedu while he was on his way to find Sita after the latter was kidnapped by Ravan. It is the wind which always plays sweet music on these stunning hills.

The wind farm

The giant wind mills standing tall on the slopes of the hill in Ramakkalmedu are a spectacular sight. The place, which is not much visited by tourists, always reverberate the deafening sound of the strong winds. The kattadippadam creates a mix of amazement and wonder in the minds of the ones who dare to visit this place.
