The vast swathes of waterlily farm in the scintillating countryside of Anchalassery in Kurichi, Kerala's Kottayam, is the latest water lily spot of the state. The flowers are spread across Anchalassery and Aarayiram paddy fields in F Block in the panchayat. Anchalassery is as beautiful and enchanting as the famous Malarikkal, which grabbed global attention for its annual water lily blooming season. The paddy fields of Anchalassery are swarmed with visitors as schools are closed for the Onam holidays.

This is an excellent location for photo shoots and filming reels. Besides, young entrepreneurs Nandakishore and Nandakumar run a tourism project called The Lakes Anchalassery as part of Kurichi panchayat’s responsible tourism project. Visitors could enjoy boating through the magical water lily farms and explore the local cuisine at Anchalassery.

Sunrise and sunset views
The mesmerising beauty of the crimson sunrise and the golden sunset could be enjoyed in the background of hundreds of blooming water lilies at Anchalassery. So, it is better to reach the spot before 8.30 am as the flowers begin to droop when the sun rises. The field would be readied for the next season of paddy cultivation by the last week of September. The water lilies would then remain buried in the mud until they rise gloriously next year. Reach Pathilpalam via Kainadi – Kavalam Road from Outpost Junction in MC Road. Turn left from here and travel for 1.5 kilometres to Anchalassery. The road is damaged in many places, so those who come in vehicles must be careful. For details, contact 7022701105
