This US national park will take your breath away

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is unarguably the largest and the most-visited national park in the US. If you are into outdoor travel, then this facility is the right destination for you.

This national park, which is situated in the middle of a verdant forest, is a paradise for nature lovers as it provides a myriad of resplendent wildflowers and frothy waterfalls. Apart from the strategically located watch area that gives visitors a panoramic view of the protected area, the park is a storehouse of many mind-blowing sights that reflect nature’s beauty.

Clingmans Dome

The Clingmans Dome, at 6,643 ft, is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The 360-degree view from the observation tower, which is styled like a spaceship, atop the dome is unbelievable and should not be missed at any cost. The visitors can also get a bird’s-eye view of the areas surrounding the national park.

The dome is the highest point in Tennessee and one should wear a jacket while visiting this place as there will be a nip in the air even during summer.

Vibrant trees and wildflowers

The park will teem with bright-coloured trees and stunning wildflowers during the autumn season, and the mountains with a splash of orange, yellow and red colours will look like a postcard picture. The park is most attractive in the month of October. Score of tourists visits the smoky mountains during spring and summer seasons to sink in the beauty of flowers that bloom in the wild. There are close to 1,500 varieties of wildflowers including spring beauties, rare types of trillium, trout lotus, wild geranium and orchids in the national park.

Spectacular waterfalls

Many incredible waterfalls dot the national park to the glee of the tourists. And the most striking one is the Abrams waterfall. The water may not be falling from a great height (20ft) at Abrams but the large volume of water gushing over the falls will take your breath away. There is also a large deep pool on the base of the waterfalls and it is extremely dangerous to swim in the pool due to strong currents and undertow.

The Grotto waterfall is another picturesque waterfall and is a favourite among trekkers. A visit to the national park is incomplete without enjoying the scenic beauty of the Abrams and Grotto waterfalls.
