Summer special train services to Ooty: KSRTC also launches new bus

The Southern Railway said that special heritage train services would be launched to Ooty during the summer season. The special train services have been scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between March 27 and July 6. The trains will run on the Mettupalayam-Ooty route on Fridays and Sundays, while Ooty-Mettupalayam trains are on Saturdays and Mondays. 

The train that starts from Mettupalayam at 9.10 am reaches Ooty by 2.25 pm. The return from Ooty is at 11.25 pm and reaches Mettupalayam at 4.20 am. Besides, there would be three services on these days in the Ooty – Kethi – Ooty route. Meanwhile, the daily services from Mettupalayam to Ooty and back will continue as usual. This daily train departs from Mettupalayam at 7 am and from Ooty at 2 pm. There are four daily services on the Kunoor – Ooty route.

A new premium super-fast KSRTC bus to Ooty from Malappuram was recently flagged off. The bus, which leaves the Malappuram KSRTC stand at 11 am every day, will reach Ooty at 4 pm. It will leave from Ooty at 4.40 pm and reach Malappuram by 10 pm. The ticket fare is Rs 186. The bus also runs to Gudallur every day at 4 am.
