Alappuzha: A man lost one leg and sustained grievous injuries to the other after falling into the gap between a train and the platform at Ottapalam railway station on Thursday evening. The injured, identified as Siddique, realised he had boarded the wrong coach of the Alappuzha–Chennai Express.
The train, which connects Kerala with Delhi and covers around 3,149 km in 45 hours, had many Malayalis as passengers.
The station is on a beautiful hill on one side and by a road near a river on the other.
The inaugural journey is set for May 13, with regular services commencing later in the month.
