Here's one more reason to head to Kodaikanal this Navratri holidays

The Kodaikanal lake is full and overflowing after a gap of 16 long years, thanks to the copious rainfall the Palani Hills has been receiving. The dream destination or lovers’ paradise as some would love to term it, has been witnessing a steady and swelling flow of visitors.

Following the moderate to very heavy rainfall at the place, the authorities concerned had issued safety warnings to tourists. People living around the lake were also warned of the consequences if the lake continued to spill over. Kodaikanal municipal authorities said they were forced to open the shutters of the dam for fear of major roads being flooded following water spillage from the lake.

Though all artificial lakes are enjoying the benefits of the plenteous rainfall, two dams close by, constructed for collecting and providing drinking water to the city, remain half filled.

The lake, spread over an expanse of 60 acres, is Kodaikanal’s hit tourist spot.
