Naalumani Kattu opens to visitors from August 24

Manarkad: Visitors can enjoy the cool and refreshing breeze at the beautiful locale in Naalumani Kattu from 24 August onwards. The popular wayside spot was closed for the last two months due to the worsening pandemic situation in the area. Hundreds of visitors had been visiting this place even though the spot wasn’t open for the public. However, people who enjoyed the food parcels, as the regular eateries and food stalls were closed here, had littered the place with plastic and other waste. This became a major challenge for the project which was opened with an aim to tackle the growing waste management issues in the locality. The Kudumbasree members who run the food stalls in the area have been busy cleaning the spot for the last few days. The sitting areas, benches and the eateries too would be disinfected before opening Naalumani Kaatu for the visitors tomorrow.

Visitors have been banned from bringing food from outside and having it here. Strict action would be taken against those who litter the place, including people who throw waste from moving vehicles. The organizers of the project Andrews Chiravathara Episcop, Dr. Punnan Kurain Venkadath, MA Mathew and KK Mathew said that the visitors who come to Naalumani Kattu should strictly follow the pandemic protocols.

Visiting time
