Thiruvananthapuram: The online booking for Agasthyarkoodam trekking, that had been temporarily suspended, has been resumed.

The bookings were suspended earlier and the visitors' entry to Agasthyarkoodam was banned in the wake of the strict curbs imposed in the Thiruvananthapuram district amid a surge in Covid cases.

Twenty-five more people can make online booking from February 11 to 26 as the Covid curbs have been eased and the travel ban to Agasthyarkoodam lifted.

Trekking enthusiasts can book the tickets on the forest department’s official website (www.forest.kerala.gov.in) or serviceonline.gov.in/trekking. Visitors have to strictly follow the Covid protocol.

The Agasthyarkoodam trek is one of the most difficult trekking routes in Kerala. The mesmerizing beautiful Agasthyarkoodam is also home to rare flora and fauna, and hence entry is restricted. But once a year, the public are permitted to enter Agasthyarkoodam with strict restrictions for a month.

The visitors have to trek 27km through the deep forest to reach the summit. Agasthyarkoodam is situated approximately 6,200ft above the sea level. Those who wish to visit Agasthyarkoodam this year should book now.
