With heavy rain lashing several Kerala districts, many roads in the state have been inundated and travel is restricted in some hilly areas. It is advised to avoid travel to hilly areas or beach destinations until the rains subside.
Here is a list of the major roads that have been affected:
• A stretch of the Pala-Erattupetta road, near Panackapalam, has been inundated. Traffic has been stopped.
• The Aluva Mahadeva Temple premises have been inundated as Periyar breached its banks. Floodwaters reached parking area above Aluva temple at midnight.
• Jews Street in Kochi flooded following incessant rains.
• With rain continues unabated in Alappuzha district, the authorities have warned that water level in Kuttanad, especially in Upper Kuttanad regions, may go up. Houseboats, shikara boats, motor boats and small country boats have been banned from conducting services till August 3, midnight. The boats of the State Water Transport Department will conduct services.
• The Mangalagiri-Maramala Aruvi road in Kottayam district's Teekoy has been destroyed following a landslide in the Kottukapally estate.
• Kallada River breached its banks. Floodwater entered the Kulathupuzha KSRTC bus station.
• Water level rises in Chalakudy River. Avoid travelling to Athirappilly.
• With water level rising in the Vamanapuram River in Thiruvananthapuram district, the Chettachal Sooryakanthi and Ponnamchundu bridges have been submerged. Traffic will be disrupted on the Vithura-Chettachal-Thennoor and Vithura-Ponnamchundu-Thennoor routes.

Night travel ban in Idukki
The Idukki Collector has enforced a ban on travel during the night in the district. All travel is banned from 8 am to 6 am. Ban also enforced for mining activities, fishing, off-road trekking, adventure tourism, and boating. The decision was taken in view of the Red Alert sounded in Idukki district. The ban will remain till August 4.
