Kasargod: The Vande Bharat train that had been operating services in the Thiruvananthapuram – Kasargod route has been ‘resting’ at the Manjeshwaram railway station for over a month. The high–speed train, equipped with modern technology and facilities, has been parked on the fourth track in the station, where cargo trains are also stationed. This train is apparently a backup in case the Mangaluru, Kasargod-Thiruvananthapuram, or Mangaluru–Goa Vande Bharat trains develop any technical snag.
The train, comprising eight rakes or cars, was relocated to Manjeswaram due to space constraints at Mangaluru railway station. The train with eight rakes had run from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram in the beginning. Later, a 20 20-rake train was launched from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram via Alappuzha, while a 16 16-rake train ran from Mangaluru to Thiruvananthapuram. Therefore, the 8 rake train that had initially operated on this route was reassigned to the Mangaluru – Goa route.
The train was then moved to Chennai when two more trains were allowed here. Meanwhile, the railway authorities stated that they are awaiting approval to relocate the train from Manjeswaram station to Chennai, which is under the Palakkad division.
