Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is all set to roll out some 'enhanced' facilities for its riders. The KSRTC-SWIFT Ltd has invited eligible bidders to supply and maintain Wi-Fi services in its premium AC superfast buses for one year. It currently operates around 13 AC superfast buses, and 40 more will be inducted soon. The wifi facility will be free for 30 minutes and chargeable thereafter. If the bidders' performance is satisfactory, they will be extended for another year.
Meanwhile, the corporation has also rolled out new buses with a distinct body, and their photos have been going viral online, triggering mixed reactions. The buses will be used both as Fast Passengers and Super Fast Passengers. Eighty buses, comprising 60 Super Fast services and 20 Fast Passenger services, are part of the first phase. Sixty-three more buses are expected to join the fleet soon. Riders who didn't like the new design say that the pattern reminds them of Rajasthan buses.
