A private bus owner in Kerala's Pathanamthitta has announced free travel for senior citizens and children. The free travel was announced on 18 services operating on five routes, including Karimanthode and Thannithode via Konni. It's been granted to senior citizens aged 75 and above and to students studying up to Class four.
The concession is granted after checking the identity cards of students and senior citizens. The concession is provided on Blue Hill bus services on routes starting from Pathanamthitta via Karimanthode, Konni, Thannithode, to Vayalamuzha; Konni Thannithode to Seethathode; and routes starting from Konni to Chengara and Medical College Hospital. On the first day of the project, free travel was provided to 73 senior citizens. Currently, the estimated revenue loss is approximately Rs 6,000 per day. In addition to this project, free bus travel has been provided to those going for cancer treatment and dialysis for a long time.
This is another project as part of the social welfare activities being carried out under the leadership of the Samuel Varghese Blue Hill Foundation, started by Joby P. Sam from Konni Attachakkal, a native of Konni Attachakkal, in memory of his late father, Samuel Varghese. The distribution of 25,000 school books took place at the beginning of the new academic year. The Samuel Varghese Blue Hill Foundation also covers all expenses for nine children and supports them.
