The travelling ticket examiner (TTE) of Nandigram Express train (11002) from Mumbai CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) to Balharshah has been suspended for converting a first AC cabin into a honeymoon suite for a newlywed couple. According to videos of the incident, balloons, roses, other floral decorations and strings were used to convert the coupe into a bedroom suite. The incident happened on July 6 at the Jalna railway station.
The TTE was suspended by the South Central Railway as outsiders, in this case, a decorator, are not allowed to enter reserved train coaches to perform commercial decorations. It is considered a security lapse. The decorator has also been booked under the Railway Act for unauthorised entry and for travelling without a ticket.
The decorations were performed while the train was in service. The couple reportedly boarded the train from the Jalna Railway Station. A Maharashtra-based decorator set up the 'suite' for them.
On its X page, the South Central Railway wrote, "A couple travelling in Train no. 11002 Nandigram Express on 6/7/26 had privately engaged a decorator online to decorate their 1st AC coupe. The decorator's entry into the coach at Jalna station was unauthorised and is viewed as a serious lapse. The concerned staff member has been placed under suspension, and a detailed departmental inquiry has been ordered. Appropriate action will be taken based on the inquiry findings. Further, the decorator has been booked under the extant provisions of the Railway Act for unauthorised entry into the train, travelling without a ticket and indulging in trespassing."
